450 at HTB's Winter Classics charity concert
AROUND 450 guests attended the Winter Classics concert at HTB earlier this month.
The audience heard performances from a variety of musicians including a duet by sisters Victoria and Elini Mavromoustaki.
A Violin and Piano duet – Bizet’s Fantasy on themes from Carmen – by Vlad Maistrovici and Diana Ionescu, received a standing ovation.
The Windsor Ensemble – a wind quintet – played a variety of pieces ending with the George Gershwin ‘I Got Rhythm.' The evening, which was hosted by HTB Director of Classical Music Simon Dixon, ended with a performance by baritone Stuart Pendred of the group Tenors Unlimited who sang two songs in Italian - Aria, a Westlife song and E come un uomo, otherwise known as the worship song ‘This is the air I breathe’ by R. Loveland and B Graham. The evening’s proceeds went to ‘Hospices of Hope’ - a Christian-based charity that helps terminally ill children and adults in Romania and surrounding countries.
