Alpha posters go up all across UK

Alpha’s new national poster campaign centred on the question ‘If God did exist, what would you ask?’ is attracting attention all over London and around the country.

Billboards emblazoned with big questions like ‘IS THIS IT? and ‘WHO CARES?’ are to be seen on major routes into and out of the capital.

The campaign includes:

  • Posters on 862 billboards across the UK, including the largest one in the country – on the A4 flyover at Hammersmith.
  • Posters on 2,400 buses in many areas of the country, including London, Manchester, Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, Northern Ireland, south Wales and Scotland.
  • More than 1,100 posters on train and underground platforms across the UK.

Posters can be seen on almost every railway station in the country.

The design of the poster campaign was conceived by a company called This Way Up, whose clients include the Royal Albert Hall, Crimestoppers, Southwark Council and Kidney Research UK.

The Invitation, which is the eleventh annual initiative for Alpha courses, will last for the whole of September, with most of the banner advertising during the first two weeks.

Many local churches have planned events to coincide with the national advertising in order to promote their courses and invite neighbours and friends.

At Holy Trinity Brompton, TV adventurer Bear Grylls will be interviewed by Nicky Gumbel at an Alpha launch event on September 24.

Bear, whose Discovery Channel series is watched by more than 1.2 billion people around the world, will speak about his adventures and his faith.

The evening will begin with drinks and canapes in the marquee adjoining the church.

Research organisation MORI Ipsos has carried out a national survey to determine the questions which most people would ask God if given the chance.

The most popular question – chosen by more than five per cent of those surveyed – concerned the issue of suffering: Why is there suffering in the world?
