Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith spoke of his support for the work of the William Wilberforce Trust when he attended a dinner in London for friends of the Trust last night.
Interviewed by HTB Vicar Nicky Gumbel in front of the 280 guests, Mr Duncan Smith paid tribute to the many ways the Trust – HTB's associated ministry working for social transformation – helps those in need and to Trust Executive Director Paul Cowley.
He said, 'The reason why I am so supportive of The William Wilberforce Trust and the work that Paul Cowley does is because it helps people out of the immediate difficulties they face and then enables them to build their own lives and provide the solution for themselves for the future.'
'I'm here because of the wonderful work you do,' he added.
He was speaking at a dinner at the Hurlingham Club, London, hosted by Paul Cowley and the Directors of the William Wilberforce Trust.
