HTB's summer teaching week Focus came to a dramatic climax last Thursday night with a final worship celebration and a talk by Director of Prayer Pete Greig.
Father Raniero Cantalamessa, speaker to the Papal Household; Brian and Bobbie Houston, founders of the Hillsong movement; Jentzen Franklin, Pastor of Free Chapel in the USA; and the Bishop of London were among the speakers at Focus 2012, which was attended by almost 4,300 people.
Nicky Gumbel, Alpha Chairman and HTB Church Warden Ken Costa and 24-7 Prayer Director Pete Greig also spoke at the event. Worship Central led the worship with Andy Piercy at the kids worship in the morning and a night of worship and dancing from St Peters Brighton led by Martin Smith of Delirious.
Nicky Gumbel welcomed everyone to Focus on Sunday and introduced Brian Houston who spoke on 'glorious obsession' and having a sense of God given purpose. His wife Bobbie spoke to almost 1,500 at the women’s breakfast the following day.
Father Raniero was originally scheduled to speak at two sessions but stayed to speak at a third after Mike Pilavachi had to withdraw due to illness. He spoke on Pentecost, Holiness and taking time to seek out God.
The Bishop of London was interviewed by Nicky after a special gathering of ordinands and priests who completed their training at St Mellitus College. He spoke on the spread of the Gospel worldwide and about the Queen.
Jentzen spoke on the importance of guarding what we say see and do and on how to focus on the good of God while not letting the work of the enemy affect us. He also led prayer ministry calling the older generation to pray for the younger.
Pete Greig ended the week with a talk on revival before handing over to Worship Central for a huge worship celebration on Thursday night.
The early bird rate is now available until the end of September for Focus 2013. Confirmed speakers include Louie Giglio and Bethel Music.
