    Thursday, 18 August 2011: 1.51pm

Fr Raniero Cantalemessa, Preacher to the Papal Household for the last 30 years, has accepted an invitation to speak at Focus 2012, the annual teaching holiday for HTB's family of churches and friends.

Fr Raniero, who is 77, has been a strong supporter of the Alpha course for many years and was a guest speaker at Focus in 2003.

A Capuchin friar, he was appointed to his post in the Vatican by Pope John Paul II in 1980 and was retained in his position by Pope Benedict XVI. He preaches to the Pope and the Papal Household in St Peter's Basilica, Rome during Lent and Advent and is 'the only person allowed to preach to the Pope'.

More than 3,700 people attended the Focus event at Golden Sands, Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire, last month and many more are expected to attend next year from 21-27 July, 2012 at the same venue.

Other guest speakers at Focus 2012 include Brian and Bobbie Houston, founding pastors of Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia.
