HTB-based ministry Relationship Central has joined up with other Christian organisations to launch a national initiative to promote parenting in the UK.

The National Parenting Initiative aims to make parenting courses available in thousands of locations all over the country in 2012. Churches are invited to run one of a selection of different parenting courses, including The Parenting Course founded by Nicky and Sila Lee.

The Initiative's Chairman is HTB Churchwarden Ken Costa who said, ‘Learning parenting skills is vital for those who want to build a strong family life.’

Rob Parsons OBE, of Care for the Family said, ‘Being a mother or father is an incredible privilege but sometimes it can be a little bit challenging.’

Scores of HTB volunteers are involved in telephoning 5,000 churches around the UK to inform them of the Initiative in a project which has become known as 'the phoning of the 5,000'.

Churches which register will be pledging to run a parenting course during 2012.

The charities involved with the project are Relationship Central, Care for the Family, Family Caring Trust and New Wine.
