Rick Warren, one of the most high profile Christian leaders in America, has accepted an invitation to speak at the HTB Leadership Conference at the Royal Albert Hall in May.
Dr Warren, whose book The Purpose Driven Life has sold more than 30 million copies and is one of the best-selling books of all time, will join senior leaders from church, commerce, community and culture in speaking at the event.
Dr Warren is Senior Pastor of Saddleback Church, near Los Angeles, California, which has more than 20,000 people attending each week.
Last year, he gave a video message to delegates attending the HTB Leadership Conference. He suggested three ways to benefit from the conference:
i) 'Clear your mind of some preconceptions of what leadership is all about... Leadership is something that is earned, is learned and is discerned. You earn it through the credibility of your character; you learn it through competent seminars; and it is discerning others around you when they see you taking the lead.'
ii) 'Be open to learning new skills. I read the Living Bible translation of a proverb that says "Intelligent man is always open to new ideas. In fact he looks for them."'
iii) 'Get to know each other. The Bible tells us that "iron sharpens iron". Everybody's ignorant on different subjects...If we get together and we share each other, we'll all be stronger.'
Dr Warren, who said the prayers at the inauguration of President Barack Obama, joins other guest speakers Judah Smith, Christine Caine, Hector Sants, the Bishop of London and Sir Paul Coleridge.
