Vineyard leader speaks at HTB services

    Tuesday, 24 April 2012: 5.48pm

Jay Pathak, Senior Pastor of the Mile High Vineyard in Arvada, Colorado, spoke at all three HTB sites at last Sunday's services. Jay is one of the youngest appointed board members of the US Vineyard.

He was welcomed by Vicar Nicky Gumbel, who said how he had recently met Jay over lunch and had immediately invited him to preach at HTB.

Mr Pathak spoke with humour and passion, telling the story of how he had been invited to a church party by a friend - an invitation which had profound consequences for his life and which was the beginning of a journey which led him to a relationship with Jesus Christ.

He encouraged members of the congregation to think of a friend who they could invite to the Alpha course. There was a time of prayer and ministry at the end of the service.

Jay has a heart for working with Muslims in the Middle East and working towards Middle East reconciliation between Jews and Arabs. He has a book coming out in October called 'The Art of Neighbouring'.

He has devoted his church to "seeking the welfare of the city", and Mile High Vineyard are involved in education, homelessness and with refugees in Arvada and Denver. For example, each pastorate hosts one refugee.

He has also created the Engage video series which is a tool to help engage people with the person and teachings of Jesus.
