Bishop says farewell as he confirms 26 at HTB

The Bishop of Kensington, Michael Colclough, led a confirmation service at Holy Trinity Brompton last month.

Twenty-six candidates were confirmed at the Sunday 5pm service, which was attended by around 700 people, including family and friends of the candidates.

There was a wide age range amongst the candidates, with the youngest at 11 years old and the eldest at 74 years old.

The Bishop of Kensington, who was appointed in 1996, is leaving his post in April to take up a new appointment as Residentiary Canon of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Nicky Gumbel thanked the Bishop for all his encouragement and support over the 11 years he has been in office and the Bishop was then cheered by the congregation.

After the service the candidates and their guests were invited to a reception in the Territorial Army hall close to the church.
