Community projects as St Paul's Church

Holy Trinity Brompton’s sister church St Paul’s Onslow Square is to provide shelter for the homeless on one night each week as part of an initiative of local churches.

The parish is joining a group of west London churches including St Luke’s and Christ Church, Chelsea, in an initiative known as West London Churches Homeless Concern.

Each church provides a group of around 30 homeless people with an evening meal and a bed for one night each week during the winter months.

St Paul’s Onslow Square will now take up responsibility for hosting the project on Wednesday nights from January 16 to March 12. A group of volunteers from the church has offered to assist on the team which will do the work.

The Rev’d Jo Moffatt, Associate Vicar of St Luke’s and Christ Church, who chairs the project, said, ‘This is the leading night shelter in London. Part of the ethos is that the volunteers eat a hot meal alongside the guests and we engage with them.’

In another initiative, St Paul’s will host a ‘Tots and Toddlers’ group for young children and adults each Tuesday afternoon from 1.30-3pm starting on January 22.

It is seen as an opportunity for mums, dads, nannies and grandparents to link up over coffee as well as provide fun for children.
