HF 2007: Older Youth - 'Mullet and Wii'

Around 160 young people aged 15-18 took part in a packed Older Youth programme at Home Focus. Hosted by HTB Youth Pastors Matt Costley & Ali Marshall, the programme included big breakfasts, quizzes, worship, talks and small groups as well as 'Out of Focus' youth events.

Worship was led by the youth band, including Robbie Hardingham, Tim Normand, Anna McGarahan & Giovanna Marshall.

Five of the ten talks were given by members of HTB Youth. Guest speakers included the Bishop of London, Mike Pilavachi, Pete Greig, and Patrick Regan.

The Bishop of London played the computer game Wii with one of the youth on the big screen to loud applause.

The 'YOOF' (Youth Out Of Focus) programme was led by Phil Dunn and featured a movie & curry night, washing-up liquid wrestling for the guys, a beach party, and a 'YOOF's Got Talent' night.

Together, the two youth groups raised more than £2000 during the week to build classrooms for an orphanage in India. The leaders were sponsored to get ridiculous haircuts including a particularly embarassing 'mullet' for Matt Costley which caused his daughter Grace to cry when she first saw it.
