St Paul's Onslow Square used as evacuation centre

St Paul’s Onslow Square was the main evacuation centre for patients and staff fleeing a serious fire at the Royal Marsden Hospital yesterday.

Members of HTB staff served tea and coffee as patients made the 300 yard
journey from the hospital on the Fulham Road.

Mattresses and chairs were put out for patients, some of whom were treated with intravenous drips as hospital staff continued to treat them.

Surrounding streets were cordoned off in a major police operation as ambulances and fire engines packed the area outside the church.

By the end of the day, all the patients had been transferred to other hospitals or discharged.
