Training, Enterprise and Furniture Re-use

    The William Wilberforce Trust Warehouse

    Vision

The project is based in a warehouse on the edge of Chiswick and Hounslow.  Our vision is to create a place that provides resources, training and enterprise for men and women who have come through homelessness, addiction or offending.  The project gives the recipients a better chance in life by restoring dignity, encouraging independent living, offering friendship, developing skills through structured training and assisting people to build a home and a future.   By providing a non-judgemental, loving and Jesus-centred context we hope that many will be restored and sent out to have positive impacts in their communities.

    Resourcing

At the warehouse there is a large furniture reuse project, collecting good quality unwanted furniture from homes and putting it back into use in the homes of those in need.  We also store and distribute clothing and household items to support those who are in desperate need.  Individuals and families are able to access the service through partner agencies or by self-referral.  If you have good quality furniture and household items that you no longer need, we will happily put them to good use.  Please call us to arrange a free collection on 020 7052 0425. We collect from Westminster (exc. Congestion Zone) Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Wandsworth, Richmond, Ealing and Hounslow.

    Training

Central to the project’s activity is our 20 week employment training programme.  The programme is an employability course aimed at those with major barriers to work specifically homelessness, addiction, mental health issues and offenders.  The course helps individuals by providing meaningful daily activity, mentoring, NVQ level qualifications, work skills and a supportive community.  Alongside this there will be a variety of workshops and courses through the year as the need arises.

    Enterprise

As well as training we are passionate about seeing successful enterprises incubated and flourish here.  Many of those coming through the training will have criminal records, histories of addiction and homelessness and often struggle to be given a second chance in the job market.  Our hope is that these enterprises provide that second chance.  The vision is that these enterprises become long-term, self sustaining stepping stones for those making progress onto independent, healthy and positive living in communities across London.
